The works shown on this website are a represents of painting and drawing process has developed over a span of about 35 years.
It traces my experience of expanding visual acuity, as well as the development of different techniques and themes.
Each stage of development is an exploration of differing subject matter, medium, environments, as well as various artists styles of particular interest to me.
The most current work shown here was created in oil paint on canvas. The recurring theme are depictions of historical structures in natural settings in recognition of years past.
Much of my work was created on location, “en plein air”, in the open air. And prefer working “alla prima”, all at once, and “Al Dente”, slightly unfinished, at the peak of expression, allowing viewers to complete their own experience.
If I can connect with and convey a sense of calm reflection and comprehension then I feel I have succeeded as an artist.
